It’s good to talk. You may have experienced trauma in your life as an adult or as a child. You may be experiencing stress or depression or just finding it difficult to cope with life. Ruhama can arrange for you to meet with a trained counsellor to talk, improve your mental health and enhance your coping skills.
Ruhama offer a wide range of therapeutic approaches to meet your needs. All of the team understand the nature of trauma and the impact it has on individuals. Your caseworker will advise you on the most appropriate supports for you, their availability and how to access them.
Individual Counselling
Individual counselling sessions are offered depending on the needs of the individual. Available in-person or online.
Group Therapy
During the year Ruhama offers in-person group therapy to facilitate recovery in an informal group setting. Topics such as mindfulness, creativity and self-care are covered and participants are welcome to drop-in as they wish.
Wellness Group
This Wellness Group uses Capacitar practices. “Capacitar” is a Spanish word meaning to empower, to awaken, to bring each other to life. The group explores wellness practices and self-development to empower and awaken people to their own wisdom, strength and resources. Ruhama offers two on-site sessions of Capacitar training throughout the year.
WRAP
The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) is a simple and powerful process for creating wellness based on five key concepts: hope; personal responsibility; education; self-advocacy and support. Ruhama offers eight in-person WRAP group sessions throughout the year.
SHINE
Sexual Health and Intimacy Now for Everyone (SHINE) is a programme that was designed and delivered together with Ruhama’s service-users. Participants support each other to create a safe space where they can safely talk about their sexuality and recover their sexual energy and sexual boundaries.
Intercultural Group
The Ruhama Intercultural Group is an in-person celebration of the various national identities of women using our services. Including workshops on dancing, creative arts and off-site visits, it’s a fun way to build a network and get to know others.

“If recovering from heroin addiction is a lifetime journey, then so is recovering from selling sex … I can’t do this on my own … I can’t … nobody who’s recovering from a journey like that can do it alone…” – Ruhama Service User
