Our services are free, confidential and delivered by a committed and experienced team. Ruhama also advocates and engages in policy work on issues related to prostitution, sex trafficking and the experiences of the women we work with. We offer education on the realities of the sex trade to frontline professionals and training so that they can respond to the individuals involved in a trauma-informed way.
Our casework team is often the first point of contact for a service user. Following assessment, a caseworker may work with you on a range of issues or refer you internally or externally depending on your needs. Your caseworker will help you to develop a care plan to plot a pathway towards accessing any supports you may need and achieving your goals. It includes all the areas of your life where you want support and would like to make positive changes.
It’s good to talk. You may have experienced trauma in your life as an adult or as a child. You may be experiencing stress or depression or just finding it difficult to cope with life. Ruhama can arrange for you to meet with a trained counsellor to talk, improve your mental health and enhance your coping skills.
We believe education can give you the power to change your life and your world for the better. We can support you to move from where you are now to where you would like to be in the areas of education and learning, and personal and professional development. We offer you opportunities to set your own unique learning goals and we work with you to achieve them.
Peer support can be described as: mutual emotional and practical support between people who share a common experience. Peer support can help to increase social connection and create a sense of belonging for people experiencing isolation and disconnection. International evidence shows that peer support programmes work by offering people who have experienced a similar journey, support, encouragement, and hope.
Ruhama supports many women who, as well as being impacted by the sex trade, are experiencing addictions, trauma, substance abuse and/or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Seeking Safety is a therapeutic programme for women such as these and with a particular focus on those experiencing domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence. It has been used in many countries and has translated into numerous languages.
The Bridge to Work Programme (BTW) supports you on your employment journey. It provides the opportunity to build confidence, improve communication skills, and increase your understanding of the workplace. Our BTW co-ordinator is here to help guide you through the process of training, applying and starting your career journey. Contact your caseworker for more information.
Outreach is provided across the country by a team of Assertive Outreach Caseworkers. Our outreach work is focused on those vulnerable cohorts who are hidden, including migrants living in Direct Provision, women fleeing Ukraine, those living in homeless accommodations and those accessing drugs services.
Ruhama is here for any person who has been impacted by prostitution or sex trafficking. Ruhama works on the basis of mutual respect between our service users and our staff. Whatever circumstances you may currently find yourself in or previously found yourself in, Ruhama is a safe, non-judgmental space where you can find help with a variety of supports.
