Ruhama offers a range of individual and group education and development support services to service users.

We believe education can give you the power to change your life and your world for the better. We can support you to move from where you are now to where you would like to be in the areas of education and learning, personal, and professional development.  We offer you opportunities to set your own unique learning goals and we work with you to achieve them.

Education Planning

We work with you to develop your own education plan and to review it as you move forward.  You will have opportunities to learn more about your interests, skills, and potential.

We help you to identify your education needs. This might include getting information and guidance on education options, getting support to apply for courses and other education services across the country.

As you move ahead, we support you in other practical ways:  helping you to access funding, pay fees, get college materials and equipment, including computers.

Individual Classes

You can work with a tutor to improve specific skills such as learning English, improving your reading, writing or technology skills, getting study support if you are doing a college course at any level.

Group Programmes

You can take group classes (on-site or online).  We also offer many education and career-related workshops.  Some recent examples are:

Education and Career Information Evenings

Throughout the year, Ruhama runs sessions on the education system and the opportunities on offer there.  They help you as you progress in education and build a career.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

We have computer classes at different levels:  so whatever you know – or do not know, you will find opportunities to learn new skills…. What we offer is in response to your needs.  Over the past year, we have offered the following:

  • Everyday Skills in ICT: Online and face-to-face workshops with qualified tutors will give you the basics in computer – and mobile phone- use and literacy. Learn how to us phone apps, send emails,  create documents,  use the internet.
  • Coding for Website Design: Ever wanted to build your own website? Thinking of a career in website development? This course may be for you. Taking place online, participants learn the basics of coding with our volunteer tutors from Codec.
  • Social Media: Social media can be a tool for entertainment, connection and fun but it’s not always harmless. Learn how to keep yourself and your information safe online with this online course.
  • Technology Events: We are delighted to offer ICT workshops and visits, thanks to our supporters in Codec and Microsoft.  So far, they have included a workshop on how to use LinkedIn and all-day ICT SuperSkills events in Microsoft’s Dublin headquarters.

“I love our classes.  Wherever I am, you are here on Zoom waiting.  My English is improving.  I understand more, I can communicate more and with confidence.  Now I know I am capable, I can learn.  This is huge – because for years, I was told – and I believed –   I was stupid.  That is not true, and it changes everything.” – Ruhama Service User
